If your processing time has passed, you may contact us by using this web form. For the “type of application/enquiry,” select one of the temporary residence options (online or on paper).

If your application is approved

We’ll send you a letter letting you know your application has been approved. You should get your visitor record in the mail within 6 weeks of getting your decision letter. If you don’t, contact us.

Your status in Canada is valid even if you have not yet received your visitor record.

If your status expires

If you apply to extend your stay in Canada before the date by which you’re supposed to leave, you can legally stay in Canada until a decision is made on your application. In this situation, you have maintained your status.

Temporary resident permit applicants do not benefit from maintained status
